Charter the Lady Essex
Our vessels are available for private charter by both groups and individuals. Schools are most welcome and we can assist with the required risk assessment.
For larger parties it is more cost effective to charter the whole boat and we can tailor an individual package for any occasion. One of our wildlife trips coupled with a meal ashore is ideal for the whole family to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, or perhaps a trip up to Battlesbridge with time ashore?
Water Taxi
We are introducing a water taxi service that will operate by prior booking outside the times of the ferry/seal trips, this
will allow passengers to (subject to weather and tide) to get to any navigable part of the Crouch and Roach, including Foulness and Battlesbridge.
Please contact us by calling 01702 258666 for more details and with your requirements.
Open Boat Hire
We have now added to our fleet a small shallow drafted open boat with a quiet outboard engine, this allows us to explore the smaller more remote creeks and channels, often drifting silently with the tide and getting very close to the wildlife. Dependant on tide we are able to offer half day trips for a maximum of 4 passengers. These trips are ideal for photographers wanting that extra special picture. depending on conditions we will land for Lunch on Foulness, another area rich in wildlife.
Please contact us with your requirements for availability and prices.

The Local RSPB Group charter the Lady Essex for a very
enjoyable day.
Ash Scattering and Memorials
Many families, either for reasons of faith or past association with the sea, wish to have their loved ones ashes scattered at sea.
We offer this service throughout the year from Wallasea Island and Burnham-on-Crouch.
We will take you, your friends and family (up to 30) out from Essex Marina or Burnham Town Quay aboard our fully licensed and insured purpose built passenger vessel to sea in order carry out ash scattering ceremonies. You could have a certificate, signed by the Captain, stating the position and time that the ashes were scattered. Alternatively you could have a ships chart showing the exact position of the ceremony which you could frame if required.
If you bring a CD of any music with you, we can play this over the sound system as and when you want.
We are able to take groups of up to 30 people aboard our fully licensed and insured purpose built passenger vessel to sea in order carry out ash scattering ceremonies.
Whilst there are other areas vessels offering a similar service they are generally diving or angling vessels and are limited to a maximum of 12 passengers, they are also prohibited from ash scattering within the three mile limit which means that trips are often cancelled due to inclement weather and mourners are subject to rough sea conditions.
We are able to avoid this as the waters in which we operate are privately owned and very sheltered in almost all conditions. We also have a canopy which protects the passengers from rain.
We are able to accommodate all kinds of requests including unaccompanied scatterings and we can supply a ships chart or a certificate detailing the exact position of the scattering, this gives comfort to families who then know the final resting place of their loved ones and which enables them to return to the same place in the future, perhaps on the occasion of an anniversary, or even to scatter the ashes of other family members.
Many people combine their trip with a trip to see the seals. Others bring a buffet style meal with them, or we can arrange catering if required.
Please contact us with your requirements and to discuss suitable dates.
